Meet Me in L.A.: A Tribute to Warren Zevon
October 24, 2025 – United Theater, Los Angeles
Downtown L.A. came alive on October 24 as the Wild Honey Orchestra and an all-star lineup celebrated Warren Zevon, soon to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The sold-out tribute, “Meet Me in L.A.: The Songs of Warren Zevon,” honored his legacy while supporting the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization and the Ed Asner Family Center. The Wild Honey Foundation, which has mounted tributes to Big Star, Buffalo Springfield, and The Band since 1994, continues its mission of keeping great music alive while supporting autism research and musicians in need.
The historic United Theater provided the perfect backdrop for Zevon’s darkly witty, heartfelt songs. Performers included Jackson Browne, Shooter Jennings, Jordan Zevon, Marshall Crenshaw, Steve Wynn, Billy Valentine, Susan Cowsill, Inara George, and many others, as well as Zevon’s longtime collaborators Jorge Calderón, Leland Sklar, and Bob Glaub. Special applause went to Kaitlin Wolfberg, who conducted the orchestra’s stunning string section.
The evening featured more than thirty songs, from rollicking hits like “Werewolves of London” and “Lawyers, Guns and Money” to moving ballads such as “Accidentally Like a Martyr” and “Keep Me in Your Heart.” As Forbes described, Billy Valentine’s gospel-infused rendition of “Accidentally Like a Martyr” left the crowd on its feet. Jackson Browne’s performance of “Desperados Under the Eaves” added a transcendent moment, with the full chorus belting “Look away, down Gower Avenue” in perfect homage to L.A.
This was more than a concert—it was a celebration of Zevon’s genius: literate, irreverent, and heartbreakingly human. As the final notes faded, one lyric lingered in the air, perfectly capturing the evening’s spirit: “Keep me in your heart for a while.”
